Blues fire coach Ken Hitchcock months before he was set to retire

Ken Hitchcock’s farewell tour is ending early.

The veteran St. Louis Blues coach was set to retire after this season, but general manager Doug Armstrong fired him Wednesday morning. Former Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo, added Cheap Dodgers Jerseys to Hitchcock’s staff last summer as the coach-in-waiting, will take over immediately.

The Blues fell, 5-3, at home to Winnipeg on Tuesday, their fifth loss in six games. At 24-21-5, St. Louis is fourth in the Central Division but currently sits in the second Western Conference wild-card position.

Hitchcock, 65, served as head coach of the Stars, Flyers and Blue Jackets before taking over in St. Louis in 2011. His 781 career regular-season wins trail only Scotty Bowman, Joel Quenneville and Al Arbour in NHL history.

Yeo, 43, went 173-132-44 as Minnesota’s coach from 2011-16; he was fired last February. His first game in charge in St. Louis will be Thursday against the Maple Leafs.

The real issue is Russell. A polarizing player in the analytics vs. eye test debate, Russell has bled shot-attempts and shots against from the blue line.

Chiarelli cited the Penguins and Blackhawks as teams with comparable Cheap Echl Jerseys cap structures and, for good reason. Next to McDavid and Draisaitl, the next-highest cap duos come from Chicago (Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, $21M) and Pittsburgh (Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, $18.2M).
